We recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and sang “America the Beautiful” with Lamont Satterly filling in for Donna Buckley at the piano. Paula Kadel read a “Perspective Prayer.”

·       Reminder – next week’s meeting will be our annual picnic at the Bhakta Home beginning at 4:30 P.M.  Please do not show up at the William Penn Inn at noon expecting to eat lunch. See the note that follows.

·       Thank you to all of the Rotarians who sent in your annual dues.  If you have not done so, please send your check for $145.00 payable to Rotary Club of Ambler to our treasurer, Leslie K. Heffernen, at P.O. Box 773, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

·         August 26th - Reading Phillies Strike Out for Hunger in Reading.

COMMUNITY IN CELEBRATION (HAPPY DOLLARS):

·         Eric Faddis read an Instant message from President Maria in who is in Colombia, reporting that they are working hard and finishing their work tomorrow.  He also announced that we now have a Rotary Club of Ambler Facebook page.  This page is designed so that each member can indicate that you “Like” this site and you will then have full rights and privileges.  We have started this project to allow members to communicate with other members regarding meetings, committee meetings, special events, etc.  Jody Richwagen, our web master has inserted a link our web site home page just below where you log-in to view our membership directory.  Simply click on that link and you will travel to the Facebook home page.

·         Dr. Jack Gomberg read a thank you letter from Mark who was one of our Camp Neidig campers.  Mark, who is a rising Sr. at Upper Dublin, expressed his desire to assist our club in any way possible.  Jack asked for ideas.  Several in the audience suggested helping us during the Oktoberfest or the Holiday Parade.

·         Bob Adams announced that the Wissahickon Valley Watershed completed the final stepping stone across the Wissahickon at Germantown Academy and that the WVWS received a federal grant.

·         Lamont Satterly said that he saw a large sign hanging on a house that said, “I Am Sorry!”  Since he is in the process of writing an article about the sign, Lamont wanted to conduct a non-scientific survey and asked us was that sign written by a male or female.  By show of hands, “male” carried the day.

·         Bill McAuliffe was happy to report that Mary was home after 20 days with two new knees.  Congratulations Mary.  Now you’ll be able to kick Bill (you know where) again.

·         Bruce Braunewell announced that he and Liz just celebrated their 20th anniversary.  He also announced that Peggy Lightkep was home from the hospital and doing well.

·         We ship by truck and send cargo by ship.

·         We have noses that run and feet that smell.

·         How can a slim chance and a fat chance mean the same thing?

·         How can a wise man and wise guy be opposites?
