August is Membership and Extension Month

JULY 28TH MEETING:
· President Maria opened today’s meeting by asking us to turn off our cell phones. We then sang “God Bless America.” Phil Albright asked for blessings of our members and our club.
· President Maria thanked today’s workers Walt West, Scott Stimson, John Snyder with assistance from grandson Kane McMurphy, Elsie Casimir and Bob Adams.
· In case you have not noticed, we are in the last week of July. Dues are now payable and should be sent to or given to our treasurer, Leslie Heffernen.
Dates to Remember
· August 18th - Phillies Strike Out For Hunger at Citizens Bank Park.
· The District Foundation Workshop with be held on August 23rd at the Best Western in at Towamencin. See President Maria if you are interested in attending.
· August 25th – “International” Picnic at Arvind Bhakta’s home. Volunteers are needed. There will not be a luncheon meeting.
· August 26th - Reading Phillies Strike Out for Hunger in Reading.
· President Maria asked for volunteers to be guest bartenders on September 22nd beginning at 5:30 P.M.at the Shanachie Irish Pub and Restaurant in Ambler. This helps raise money and recruit new members. See President Maria and offer your time.
· The District Leadership Institute will be held on September 25th. Those in a leadership position in our club are urged to attend. See President Maria for further information.
· The Ambler Oktoberfest will be held on October 2nd with the 3rd being the rain date. We will be setting up and displaying a ShelterBox. We need assistance with set-up/take-down, etc.
· The District 7430 Golf Outing will be held on October 18th at Silver Creek GC in Hellertown. President Maria has donated the trophies for this event. See Tom Murphy to register.

COMMUNITY IN CELEBRATION (HAPPY DOLLARS):
· Alain DuPlat was happy to announce that tomorrow he and Ethel will celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
· Arvind Bhakta was celebrating his 59th birthday TODAY.
· Elsie Casimir announced that her friend is home from the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer.
· Phil Albright said that his doctor/surgeon gave Phil the OK to swing a golf club. Jim Kline wondered aloud whether Phil would actually be able to hit that ball.
· Lamont Satterly said that he went to the dentist 2 weeks ago to get his teeth cleaned and paid $138. Yesterday he took his dog Dharma to get her teeth cleaned at the vet and paid $430. Next time take her to your dentist!
PROGRAM:
Dr. Mark Legnola from the Community Chiropractic in Blue Bell was today’s speaker. Mark spoke to us about how to sit, stand and sleep. This was an enjoyable talk about proper posture and methods to exercise. Mark also did a good job with the use of props. Someone lost their head during the presentation which caused a large thud. (Steve, feel free to add any comments)
THE GRAND CLUB: We had the third of ten weekly drawing.
