JULY 21ST MEETING:
· After turning on the microphone, President Maria opened today’s meeting by asking us to turn off our cell phones. We then sang “America the Beautiful.” Anne Frank offered the invocation.
· President Maria thanked today’s workers Walt West, Scott Stimson, J.R. Warner and Gerry Timlin.
· Joan Coleman no matter how large or small our contributions are, or if we ever wondered if we made a difference, our club is to be congratulated for the contributions made to ShelterBox. Through our efforts, a total of 18,722 boxes have been deployed to Haiti by Rotary since the devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. Our boxes have been or will soon be deployed to a disaster-affected region. The ShelterBoxes we so generously provided have been assigned number(s) 12827-12836. In order to track our boxes, please go to www.shelterboxusa.org and click on the “Track Your Box” link on the homepage. Select search by box number and be sure to select United States of America in the drop down menu. Then enter our box number(s).
· Jim Kline, who is the chair of the membership committee, announced that RINOS (Rotarians in Name Only) have been queried as to their interest in our club with the net loss of seven or eight members. As of today our membership stands around 75. Jim asked that we all make a commitment to bring in at least one new member during this year. That would be a gain of 75 new members. Maybe that might be too much to expect, but how about a net gain of 10-15 new members? Jim, how about being brave and asking for a show of hands next week, eh?
