At the International Conference in Montreal
JULY 7TH MEETING:
The first meeting of the Maria Kim Administration was opened with Maria asking us to silence our cell phones. We sang “God Bless America” and Mary Reinoehl gave thanks for the opportunity to be in Rotary…
President Maria asked all the officers and Past President Joan to come forward to receive their respective officer’s pin.

Vice President Steve Bob Pribis, Past President Joan Coleman,
President Maria Kim Treasurer Leslie Heffernen,
Second Vice President Bruce Braunewell and Secretary Scott Stimson

Geff Ries and Tom Murphy had the opportunity to come forward to tell of their impression of the recently completed International conference of Rotary International
Geff spoke of the great number of projects that Rotary does that we never hear about. Rotary now has a new meaning for Geff and he will attend every conference in the future that he is able to attend (he will miss next year’s conference in New Orleans as it is in conflict with the largest trade show that he attends every year).
Tom attended his 5th conference and stated that he wanted to drink “Canada dry.”
There were over 16,000 in attendance from some 200 countries. Also attending for the RCA were: Alain and Ethel DuPlat, Dan and Anne Ritter, Suzanne Ries, Bonnie Murphy and Maria Kim. Accompanying Maria was Patty Smith from the Blue Bell Rotary Club.

PROGRAM:

Mike DeYeso, President and CEO of the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge was today’s inspirational speaker. Rather than report bits and pieces of Mike’s talk, we’ve included information from their web site, www.freedomsfoundation.org.
Founded in 1949 as a non-profit education organization, Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge is dedicated to helping students, teachers and citizens gain a greater awareness and appreciation of the principles of a free and democratic society.
With the support of our national volunteer chapters, we present educational and awards programs to foster engaged citizenship, exploring civics, U.S. history, the American political process, student entrepreneurship, youth leadership, constitutional rights and the judicial process. Our purpose is to educate and inspire citizens of all ages, promote volunteerism, and encourage them to make a positive contribution in their communities.
All programs are held at our 85-acre campus adjacent to historic Valley Forge National Park, providing students with a unique "learning and living" experience.
